Evaluations
Before we begin therapy, we will observe your child and complete standardized testing to identify their developmental strengths and difficulties. Then, our therapists will work closely with your family to create meaningful therapy goals and choose the best therapy approach for your child.
If your child already had an evaluation done at school or another clinic within the last year, we may be able to review the findings and begin therapy right away.
Our therapy APPROACH
At Honeysuckle Pediatric Therapy, we will focus on enhancing your child's strengths during fun activities— because children learn best in play! We strive to include your child's interests and get their bodies moving as they learn new skills in therapy.
Parents are highly encouraged to get involved in the process. At the end of each session, you will have a chance to get your questions answered and learn tips for supporting your child’s development in daily life.
Speech & Language Therapy
Speech • Language • Social Skills
We will support your child’s communication during play-based activities that get them engaged, moving, and learning. Our sessions will focus on helping your child produce all age-appropriate speech sounds, say what’s important to them, and interact with confidence! Through a treatment plan customized to your child’s interests and needs, our speech therapists will help them:
Speak more clearly
Express themselves through speech or AAC
Understand what they are told
Socialize and communicate with others
Decrease frustration and communication-based behaviors
Feeding Therapy
Picky Eating • Sensory Aversions • Oral Motor Delays
Feeding disorders can be stressful for parents, caregivers, and children. Depending on your child’s individual challenges, we will design a treatment plan to support their sensory system and oral-motor development. Our feeding therapists will make mealtimes a safe and enjoyable experience by helping your child:
Transition from liquids to solids
Chew and swallow foods effectively
Decrease coughing or choking at mealtimes
Eat foods with a variety of textures and flavors
Gain confidence in their feeding skills
Occupational Therapy
Sensory Processing • Fine Motor Skills • Daily Activities
OT will focus on supporting your child’s ability to learn, play, and complete activities in their daily life. Whether your goal is for your child to zip their own coat or learn strategies to regulate their emotions, our occupational therapists make sessions fun and functional! Your child will build the skills they need to:
Process sensations from their environment
Gain age-appropriate fine motor skills
Cope with challenges and regulate emotions
Complete daily routines with greater confidence and independence
Physical Therapy
Gross Motor Skills • Torticollis • Orthopedic Conditions
PT sessions will support your child’s physical development so that they can do all the things kids love to do— roll, sit, stand, walk, run, jump, and play! Through a combination of play-based activities and parent coaching, our physical therapists will help your child:
Move and play with greater ease
Build muscle strength
Improve range of motion in gross motor movements
Gain confidence and independence
Your physical therapist may also provide recommendations for orthotics, braces, and other assistive devices.
